Description

Alpinestars Tech-Air MX Airbag System Features: An MX-specific airbag developed using race-derived data that goes back to 2016 Fits under or over a jersey, wears like a roost guard, and is comfortable and well-balanced front to back MX Mode: The standard algorithm for traditional motocross tracks and the recommended default MX Race Mode: A desensitized mode for pro-level riding, raising the parameters for a “crash” detection Enduro Mode: Optimized for lower-to-medium speeds, trail riding, woods racing, and dual-sport Rally Mode: Dakar Rally inspired algorithm for high-speed off-road use Airbag Technology: User-replaceable argon-charged gas canister A result of algorithm data collected from pro riders like Austin Forkner and Jordan Smith since 2016 Monitors movement via one Tri-Axial Accelerometer and one Tri-Axial Gyroscope (6 axes total) Communicates every millisecond for immediate and precise crash detection Average deployment time of a lightning-fast 40ms Airbag deflates in about 4-5 seconds post-detection, allowing the rider to remount and continue Goes into a standby mode after 15 minutes of inactivity (can be reversed by re-strapping) Fit & Sizing: Designed to be worn comfortably over or under a jersey Two adjustable side straps with a hooking closure; the left strap activates the system Not compatible with neck braces or additional chest/back armor Note : Sized like a standard roost guard; see video for sizing recommendation Construction & Design: Airbag offers critical coverage to the rider’s chest, shoulders, and back CE Level 1 Polyhedron passive chest protector for constant coverage CE Level 1 Nucleon Plasma passive back protector for pre-impact protection Mesh and foam-backed main chassis for lightweight comfort and breathability TPU Overlays on the chest and over the back’s ECU housing for added durability Functionality: The system powers on and runs diagnostics as soon as the left side strap is closed Visual status indicator on the lower left side shows battery life and system mode Mode selection is easily changed via the Tech-Air App or a two-second hold on the control panel button USB-C charging port; the control panel is entirely removable for cleaning and storage Fully charged battery provides approximately 30 hours of active ride time Goes into a standby mode after 15 minutes of inactivity (can be reversed by re-strapping) The system is certified for six deployments before the physical airbag requires replacement Provides 80-90% more impact absorption than traditional, static foam armor For decades, Alpinestars has been synonymous with protection and performance in motorsports. The introduction of the Tech-Air MX Airbag System is a testament to the brand’s relentless commitment to rider safety, leveraging years of data collected from the world’s fastest motocross, off-road and Dakar racers to bring revolutionary, life-saving technology to the wider motocross community. Race Bred The Tech-Air MX was forged in the crucible of professional racing. Starting in 2016, Alpinestars collected crash data from top MXGP, Pro Motocross, and Dakar Rally athletes like Austin Forkner and Jordan Smith. This real-world input refined the algorithm’s logic for catastrophic crash detection, ensuring the system is ready to save your day before you hit the dirt. Moto Forcefield Static armor can’t compare to the Tech-Air MX. The system provides up to 90% more impact absorption across the chest, shoulders, and back compared to traditional CE Level 1 armor. A full deployment takes a lightning-fast 40 milliseconds, offering a massive reduction in force that can be the difference between a season-ending injury and getting back on the bike. Seamlessly Smart Despite the advanced technology, the vest integrates seamlessly. The lightweight mesh chassis ensures excellent airflow, and the system powers on automatically once the main left-side strap is secured. Its brain monitors your movement with six-axis sensors every millisecond. After deployment, the bag rapidly deflates in about 4-5 seconds, minimizing downtime. Different Strokes The Tech-Air MX is smarter than a one-size-fits-all approach. Through the accompanying app or the control panel, you can select from four unique off-road algorithms to match your riding style: MX, the standard track algorithm; MX Race, a desensitized mode for pro-level aggression; Enduro, for lower speeds and trail/woods riding and racing; and Rally, the high-speed algorithm used in Dakar. This adaptability ensures that the system is only deploying when you truly need it, keeping you protected and minimizing unnecessary canister changes.
